Colours Of Folklore
15 cm x 21 cm
Watercolour on fine art paper
Varnished, signed & framed ready to hang
Watercolour is a beautiful and delicate medium that I love working with. There is a beautiful harmony that I need to honour when using this method because you can’t force or have 100% control over the outcome. It takes years of choreography to learn to respect the fluidity and velocity of pigment and how it dances on each substrate. I’m obsessed with colour matching and spend days mixing the perfect shade. That’s one thing that I love about watercolour is that even if mommy duties pull you away and your medium dries out, all you need to do is to add water to reactivate it ready for another dance in the studio/ kitchen counter.
This piece is a story, journey and map of colours and tones I created while working on another piece in the collection. Every time I came across a beautiful shade on the journey to find a specific colour, I took a little memo and colour swatch to remind me what is possible and that I can revisit it in the future.
