Art Meets Advocacy: Sarah Eva Manson’s Elephant Sculpture for Deloitte and Elephant In The Room

Creating Conversations Around Mental Health

It’s with immense pride and a heartfelt belief in the power of art to instigate change that I share with you the journey of my latest creation – a vibrant elephant sculpture for the Elephant In The Room movement, in partnership with Deloitte. This collaboration is an artistic embodiment of the critical dialogue around mental health in our communities and workplaces.

The Inspiration Behind the Sculpture

When approached to contribute to the Elephant In The Room initiative, the vision was clear: create a piece that not only draws the eye but also opens the heart and mind to the silent battles many face with mental health. It was a project that resonated deeply with my ethos as an artist – to invoke emotion and inspire action through my work.

The elephant – a majestic creature symbolizing strength and wisdom in many cultures – was a blank canvas awaiting a story. I wanted my design to reflect the resilience and hope that lies within each of us, to create a piece that speaks of support and understanding.

Bringing the Vision to Life

The process of painting the elephant was both a challenge and a privilege. Every stroke and hue was chosen to represent the solidarity and inclusivity that Deloitte aims to foster within its walls. The vibrant colors and intricate patterns mirror the diverse experiences and backgrounds that make up our community and the shared journey towards better mental health awareness and support.

A Symbol of Commitment

Deloitte’s decision to adopt this elephant sculpture goes beyond aesthetic appeal. It is a bold statement of their commitment to creating a culture where mental health is a priority – where employees are encouraged to be their true selves and support one another through life’s ups and downs.

The sculpture now stands in Deloitte’s offices, a beacon of hope and a daily reminder of the importance of mental wellbeing. It’s a conversation starter, a declaration that it’s okay to not be okay, and a call to action to always seek help when needed.

Looking Ahead

This sculpture marks a significant milestone in my artistic journey, intertwining my passion for art with my desire to make a meaningful impact. It is my hope that this piece will continue to inspire and encourage open dialogues around mental health, not just within Deloitte but across the globe.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with Elephant In The Room and Deloitte on this groundbreaking initiative and look forward to seeing how this collaboration will continue to foster positive change.
