Wonders of the forest environment brought to life at Sarah Eva Manson's Arklow art exhibition
November 14 2022
‘WANDER and Wonder’, an exhibition by artist Sarah Eva Manson, will take place in Arklow Library.
A reception takes place on Tuesday, November 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the guest speaker will be Aisling Plunkett, Forest Bathing Guide and Community Herbalist.
Sarah grew up in an art friendly environment at Ballyrogan, not far from Redcross.
The exhibition is a process-led body of work that invites viewers to experience the natural world through the lens of nature connectedness and the art of slowing down.
‘Wander and Wonder’ presents a collaboration between the artist, studio and the forest environment through natural pigment and responsive painting.
Sarah studied with Eco Wellness Consulting, Nádúr, Centre for Integrative Forest Therapy and County Wicklow Partnership to become a Forest Bathing Guide in 2021, further developing her connection to nature.
Sarah spends hours sitting quietly in the forest observing the beauty and awe around her, noticing all the colours and textures and how they change throughout the year.
The expressive artworks, seen as a whole, are gentle and balanced. Dappled textures are contrasted against precious details. Viewed up close, the alchemic reactions of the natural pigment echo that of the forest’s ecosystem, ultimately creating a keen sense of the environments to which the works respond.
The exhibition will remain in place at Arklow Library until Wednesday, November 30.
